Get Ready With Me: Quick Edition.

You heard that right! This is my ‘Oh-sh*t-I-slept-in-too-late’ get ready with me edition 🙂

These are for the mornings I roll out of bed, have a quick half shower, and moisturize my body, face, and hair. There is no make-up included (even though the photo above is a full face of makeup for me hehe).

  • Right after I fix up a pot of coffee and take care of Nella’s morning routine, I’ll brush my teeth and then do a quick rinse in the shower to clean my body. I’ll use a wide headband to cover my hair if I’m not washing it for the day.
  • After the rinse, I’ll use Lush’s Eau Roma Water Toner for my face, Babe Lash Enhancing Conditioner across my lashes, deodorant under the arms, Beautycounters Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream under my eyes, and Origins Faux Glow Radiant Self-Tanner for the face.
  • I’ve been into Jergens Natural Glow lotion again for moisturizer on my legs during the winter months when they are not seeing any sun. I’m also a big fan of Beautycounter’s Hydrating Body Lotion in Citrus Mimosa because I’m a sucker for anything scents that remind me of a beach vacation during colder months!
  • I will then use L’ange’s Deja Vu Dry Shampoo throughout my hair, brush it out and fluff it back up with some hairspray.

And that’s it! This whole routine takes me about 20 minutes in the morning which is excellent for mornings when I’m short on time or want to get a little more beauty rest. What is your morning routine like?

Women’s Natural Deodorant Review.

Hey all!

This post has been long overdue for information I wanted to post! Natural deodorant is such a hot topic the last couple years when more & more people are being cautious about what is in the products we’re putting on our body. I switched to Native about 3 years ago but noticed when I would try out the different scents, my skin would react. This reaction was typically during hot seasons like spring or summer. So my doctor suggested testing out different brands and you know this girl loooooves to try out different products. I wanted to make sure to give enough time for each of these (about 1-2 months) to see how my skin would react. This post today is a quick review of each of the different deodorants I tested out, where I got them from, and if I would continue to use them.

I was not paid to promote any of these items but this post does include some affiliate links which means if you purchase through them, I receive a small kickback. If you choose to order through these links, which you definitely do not have to, I greatly appreciate you supporting me 🙂

Starting with the Amazon deodorants:

  • Native: This one is $15 off Amazon and $11.97 as a Prime member. I’ve also heard you can find it at major retailers. You’re probably familiar with the Native brand since this is the most well known for natural deodorants. I started with this one years ago and loved the Coconut Vanilla scent. I didn’t notice any problems with it while I was using this deodorant out in San Francisco where the climate is a bit drier. Once I moved to CO, I ordered the Pear & Lavender scent and summer rolled around, my skin started to become dry and itchy. I have not ordered Native since but am not against trying out the Coconut Vanilla in cooler, dryer months.
  • Each & Every: Hands down my favorite that I’ve tried out so far. This one comes up for $15 on Amazon at the moment & claims to be Aluminum, Parabens, & Baking Soda free. I’ve been using Cedar & Vanilla and have not had any negative reactions. The texture is very smooth and glides right on. I actually found myself going back to this one in between trying out the others!
  • Underarmed: This company won me over by having THE BEST customer service & experience. I work in Marketing so I really notice the little things companies do. This brand sent a Thank You note with the order & if you reached out to them and left a review they would send you a travel size deodorant (pictured above & can’t have enough of those!). They also provided a 20% off code with the travel size item if you wanted to start a subscription. With so many options on the market right now, this small family-ran business really knows how to build a brand relationship. This one comes up at $17 on Amazon and I tested out the Lavender & Eucalyptus as my full size and the Jasmine & Rose as the travel size. Both smell amazing and I had no reaction to these. Underarmed came as a close second for me in my testing since I just love the smoothness of Each & Every.

Now for the non-Amazon options:

  • Avon OnDuty: This one was a recommendation from Mama Becky since she has been using this deodorant for years (She has recently switched to BeautyCounters). Avon is definitely the cheapest option at $3.60 but this one does not claim to be aluminum free as Aluminum Chlorohydrate is the main ingredient. It is nonscented and claims to be non-sticky and quick drying. This one was probably my least favorite as it is not the best natural option (sorry Mama Becky!).
  • Cleo + Coco: This one was a recent Christmas gift from Mama Becky since it was a recommendation on Good Morning America. It is an aluminum-free, charcoal deodorant that sells for $18 and you can also find it on Amazon. I’m currently testing it out & will update this post later with more thoughts but didn’t want to leave it out. I’m not in love with the texture but the Lavender Vanilla scent is wonderful!
  • Primally Pure: You know I had to add in my favorite brand, Primally Pure. I originally order this one after I saw a gal raving about it on Instagram. I ordered the Blue Tansy scent in a bundle around Black Friday a few years ago and feel in love with the scent of this deodorant. This one does contain Baking Soda so if you know your skin reacts to this ingredient than it might not be for you. The current prices on the site range from $16-$22 depending on the size you desire. I went back and ordered other products in the scent because I love it so much. (Psst: Code PrimallyAshRae will save you some $$)

Those are the few I’ve gone through in my journey so far & will continue to update. Following along with me on Instagram at @ashraeeiningyoga for day to day updates since I do still have a few on my list to try 🙂

And most importantly, have a beautiful Saturday!

Mask Acne.

Mask Acne.

Or also known as maskne, as I like to call it and have heard around, is the breakouts and irritation you get from wearing your mask (which you should because that is very important!). I notice myself that the irritation comes from mostly wearing my mask while teaching yoga and barre classes. I probably would also see breakouts from wearing the masks while working out but I am still sticking to home workouts mostly and outdoor running. During the times I am teaching though, I’m talking a lot more and creating a lot of heat and moisture around my lips, chin, and cheeks. This is the best atmosphere for breakouts to produce.

This can be quite frustrating because who really wants to deal with pesky little pimples. But have no fear! As needed as the masks are and as annoying as the irritation and breakouts can be, there are a few things we can do to potentially avoid the consequences of wearing the masks and that comes in the form of better skin care!

My favorite skin care brands are Clinique and Beautycounter but I’m sharing a routine today that you should be able to find products within your favorite skincare line.

  1. Start with cleaning off your make-up and entire face (including your neck) with cool water and a make-up remover. I personally use the ‘Take the Day Off’ makeup remover from clinque with a cotton ball or pad.
  2. Rinse you face with water again to clean off all leftover product.
  3. Invest in a facial scrubbing brush. My personal Fancii brush is pictured below and I am also a fan of Clinique electric scrubbing brush. Yes, we’ve already removed our makeup but now we will use a cleaner and the scrubbing brush to remove dirt, dead skin, and grim that sits deeper in our pores. Spend a good amount of time in this step gently running the brush all over your face and neck. Rinse your face clean with water after (and then make sure to rinse clean your brush after each use).
  4. I just started another step of covering any outbreak spots with an Acne Spot treatment.
  5. I’ll then cover my face and neck with a moisturizer.
  6. Followed by an Overnight Resurfacing Peel.
  7. Then end with a Balancing Facial Oil.

I’ll then go sip on a Four Sigmatic night time mushroom tea & sleep like a little baby knowing I’ve fully taken care of my face. I know this is quite the process but covering facial skin care health is very important espesically as our faces are getting use to wearing a mask for the majority of our days.

As always, share your own skin care tips with me in the comments – you know I love to try out new products and routines!

Ilia Natural Beauty Review.

Next up in my natural beauty journey is Ilia, another brand I was introduced to by a friend. I was intrigued by this brand originally to test out the natural mascara. I’m already very picky about my makeup but mascara is at the top of the list because it is hard to come across a good one.

I’ve been trying out a few Ilia products for the last two months and am ready to increase my collection! I don’t say this lightly because natural makeup can get a pretty high price tag on it. I decided to test out a kit that included the Limitless Lash Mascara, Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40, Tinted Lip Conditioner, and the Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment.  Here is what I thought of each product:

  • Limitless Lash Mascara
    • I was skeptical at first since it is so hard to find a good mascara but I am definitely impressed. This mascara provides length and volume as well as an even coat across my lashes. The only thing I wasn’t so happy about is this product does run slightly under the eyes but I’ll chalk that up to the recent humidity.
  • Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40
    • I read an article recently stating that SPF in make-up really doesn’t cover the face enough to actually protect you acurately from UV rays so we’ll ignore this element. Beside that, I was very happy with the coverage of this product. I’m a huge fan of BB cream so this seems like it would be a nice replacement.
  • Tinted Lip Conditioner
    • Love! The Lip Conditioner is probably my favorite item out of the batch. Most days I don’t wear a ton of color on my lips but this was a nice inbetween of chapstick and lipstick – mosturizing, light, with just the right hint of color. I will definitely be ordering additional colors!
  • Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment
    • I used the product the least but it isn’t because I wasn’t a fan. I typically don’t wear much on my cheeks and don’t prefer glossy lip coverage so I’m just not use to a product like this. Post-quarantine I think I’ll get more use out of this item and it will be fun to whip out on dates or nights out dancing.

Overall, Ilia will be an consistently brand on my daily makeup routine and I’m really happy with the mascara, serum skin tint, and lip conditioner. I’d love to hear if you have any Ilia favorites!

Lush Product Favs.

These are my personal opinions and Lush is not affiliated with this post. (I am working on getting a discount code for you though ;))

Is anyone else OBSESSED with Lush?

Every time I go into a Lush store, I’m like a kid in a candy shop. I could spend hours just sniffing every single item in there. I love their products and I’ve been promising a review for about a month now since I last stocked up on some of my favorite items. So if you’re a Lush fan I’d love to hear your thoughts on the following items or your personal favorites so I can run out and get them myself. 🙂

Bronzing Bar:  This stuff is so great on your arms and legs when you start to show some skin after a long cold winter and yo got no color! Some of us cheat and get a spray tan and some of us own our paleness (I fall in both categories) so when I’m in the latter I’ll use my bronze shimmering bar on my skin to give it a little glow.

T for Toes: We ALL have smelly feet – and don’t be acting like you dont! We all have those shoes that we don’t wear with socks because they aint cute with socks sticking out the top. I tap this powder into my allbird slip ons since I wear those way too much and it has been a huge help with keeping the shoes and my feet smelling wonderful!

Cuticle Butter: This stuff smells like fruit loops AND I LOVE ME SOME FRUIT LOOPS! It has been my go-to item during the cold months when your skin seems to alwaaaaaays be dry (so annoying). I use it on my legs, elbows, and directly on my face which all seem to be my dry areas in the winter.

Hair Moisturizer:  I do a lot of heat damage to my hair so anything that will help my ends stay healthy between visits to my hair guys, I am all about! I take a small pea-size on my fingertip and then rub along my ends after getting out of the shower.

Toner: I spray this bad boy directly on my face after getting out of the shower. It smells amazing and I do believe it helps with moisturizing my face. I purchased it last spring so this little bottle could possibly last me an entire year & I swear I’ve used it pretty much every single day. Good buy!

Lush Tin: This item is a godsend while traveling. I can store the bronzing bar, bobby pins & ponytails, soap bars, jewelry, etc. and my items stay nice and contained even through the roughest travels. I’m thinking of stocking up on more because I currently only own one. They also come in different sizes as well!

Let me know if you give any of these a try. And if you haven’t been to a Lush before, you’ve been warned (they’re AMAZING!).
