What is your calling? What are the things in your life that bring you contentment, happiness, and joy? What makes you feel you’re living your life to the fullest?
In Hinduism, dharma signifies behaviors that are considered to be in accord with Ṛta, the order that makes life and universe possible, and includes duties, rights, laws, conduct, virtues and “right way of living”. In Buddhism, dharma means “cosmic law and order”, or true nature of the universe.
In my own terms, I like to describe dharma as your life calling. Today I wanted to dive into dharma more, as well as karma and kriya as well as some personal news. Karma, which you might be most familiar with, is almost like a law of attraction or force of reasoning. And Kriya is flow.

I’m going to go a little more personal in today’s blog post since I have some major life news I’d like to share. I’ve recently listened to Sahara Rose’s episode ‘The Difference between Karma, Dharma, and Kriya” from her The Highest Self Podcast recently and it’s really resonated with the stage of life I’m currently in. I highly recommend this podcast if you have not already checked it out.
Sahara explains that if you aren’t living towards your true dharma, then life will continuously give you tiny hints in order to try and push you in the right direction. If you are not working towards your life’s true purpose then karma will play a role in providing you with hints.
I’ve moved quite a bit in my life so far, more than most, and will be soon moving again here in a couple weeks. Life has presented me with an opportunity that I believe is guiding me back in line with my life purpose. As sad as I am to be leaving the city of San Francisco, I am really excited for my new transition into Colorado. This was not an easy decision for me, as I absolutely love the city I am currently living in, I’ve felt that this next transition was falling into place too easily to be ignored.
Karma had played a roll in placing the pieces just right to guide me into this next life step. Over the last couple weeks, decision were easily being made that could have had a major impact on the course of my life. And I ultimately feel that the stars are aligning in a way to guide me in the direction I need to be going. I’ve been packing this last week with moments of sadness knowing my time here is ending, ultimately by my choice to move on to another chapter in my life. Deep down I feel this is part of my dharma but it is also freely to know that if it is truly not, I have the choice to change it. Life is a journey we create for ourselves, and we have the capability to live this life how we please.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you currently are living out your dharma or are in the path to living your dharma. Do share with me in the comment section!
P.S. I also encourage you to check out my San Francisco Favorites page, which has all my prized memories captured. I’m continuing to add more daily before I depart on my next life journey.
