Is anyone else feeling the intense emotional turning during this new moon? Oofta. Seriously.
We’re at the beginning of the astrological year, the season of spring, and with a Fire sign none the less. Aries brings us fresh energy to recenter ourselves as well as provides us the drive to take us where we want to go with new intentions. It’s a time to really listen to your gut, take action and think later (I’m probably too good at this already).
“Let the changes breathe. Let the patterns break. Bigger pictures are beckoning.”
Aries energy can evoke the inner warrior in us during this new moon, which is occurring this Friday (US), April 5th. Which means this is a great time to confront our fears or conquer tasks or experiences that typically scare us. This can truly build the fire within us and build personal power.
Mars is also influencing this time during the dark moon so we may witness the shadow side of Aries, where we might tap into our childlike behaviors; being defensive, throwing tantrums, emotionally demanding, rage.
During this time, find what truly is frustrating you and determine what you can implement in your life to dimish or work with these feelings to help benefit you. The recent full moon in Libra was encouraging us to look into the relationships in our lives where Aries is now tapping into taking time to examine ourselves and have self-growth. If you’re spending time recently focusing on others too much, you may find your energy is drained or burnt out. You may even be dealing with emotions of rage or anger. This might be your unconscious child behavior that is reflecting onto others when really you just need to take time to turn inward.
How are you feeling during this time? Is any of this news really resonating or maybe completely opposite of what stage you’re currently at? I’d love to hear!
We’re currently in the Season of Pisces which means it’s the perfect time to practice letting go of control. We can intentionally try to resist the urge to set deadlines on our dreams, and leave some of our plans open ended, allowing for the universe to fill in the details. Or spend a couple days with minimal or no plans, letting the moment announce what you would like to do. We’re taking this time to tap into our Pisces energy. We may notice that the Pisces in our lives tend to be dreamers, wanderers, and in a constant meditative state. That’s why this season’s meditation practice is extra juicy.
Pisces energy reminds us that we are spiritual beings that just happen to be in human form. It is a time to just watch sensations within, letting them pass instead of reacting to them. This is truly the practice of letting go of control. To hold space for these sensations, sit with feelings, truly feel them, and then release them is a practice of training the conscious and subconscious mind to not react to events both internally and externally. We’re literally training ourselves to chill the fudge out.
We’ll practice body awareness this season and start with 5 minutes at a time, working up in time to potentially get to 30 minutes. While in the practice, become completely immersed in the sensations that arise and let all other sensations fade into the background.
Lie in a comfortable position, relaxing the entire body.
Release any excess tension you find yourself holding in your face, neck, or shoulders.
Take three deep rounds of inhales + exhales. With each exhale, continue to relax into the floor.
Start to bring your attention on one area of your body.
Begin to ask yourself what sensations arise in this area.
You can label the sensation if you would like. Recognizing it as warm, cool, calming, awakening, etc.
Resist any urge to judge these sensations.
Release the sensation. It is through conscious acknowledgement and without reaction that we will learn through this practice to eventually release these sensations without resistance.
Move onto the next area of your body, working your way through spending around 5-10 breathes on each area until your set meditation time comes to an end.
If you would like you can organize this practice by starting from your head down to your toes or working your way through the chakra system. This meditation is immensely beneficial with training our minds and bodies to not react to external situations. We learn that all energy is temporary.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this meditation practice or if your practicing a different meditation during this season. Share with me in the comment section, by email (email@example.com), or on Instagram (@onedreamyyogaflow).
I attended a Sagittarius New Moon circle tonight at my beloved yoga studio where my training was held with the circle put on my a dear friend of mine. With it only being a few days into the December month, I find I am already getting wrapped up into Christmas gatherings and holiday parties that tonight circle was exactly what I needed.
The Sagittarius circle theme was to embrace the next adventure and set out with a mindset of optimism. I love this theme as I have been considering a lot of transitional life decisions lately and struggling with what the right choices.
The recent Sagittarius New Moon occurred just yesterday on December 6th. The ruling planet for this new moon is Jupiter and provides an offering of expansion to dream beyond our usual limits.
Each new moon is a time for death and rebirth; to shed anything that isn’t serving us and set intentions to bring in new. The moon’s alignment sits in line with the sun and is the only time during the 29-day lunar cycle that the Sun’s and Moon’s vibrations combine which helps amplify our individual energy.
We’re now entering the light-filled period of Sagittarius. After the dark filled period of Scorpio, this period should feeling freeing and fresh. During this cycle, embrace your curiosity and sense of wonder. Seek new insights to old problems.
Sagittarius season will also remind us to look at the positive side of life. Accept the recent struggles or hardships and maybe even find a beauty in them. This is a time to go out and seek new adventures; new ideas, thoughts, dreams, and experiences.
If you would like to set up your own moon circle and create a space for intention setting, I encourage you to try the following:
Pick a space, inside or outside, that feels centered and stable. Try to find a calm, quiet space that is removed from any distractions.
Place candles, crystals, and other items within this space – maybe even creating an altar in front of you or circular shape around you. These items will help call the energy of new beginnings.
Your own attention and energy is the most important element during this time so don’t get too wrapped up in the items.
Items can be of the purple or raspberry color, pentagon shape, leather fabric, or scents of cinnamon, vanilla, or frankincense.
Feel free to expand this circle to a group or just solo.
Start with reviewing the astrology of the night and what this season will mean for you. This can be a time to start formulating your intention for the next 29 days.
Ask yourself the following and either simply think of the answers in your head or journal and jot down your thoughts:
What untruths do you tell yourself that could be holding you back from being your fully expansive self?
How do you approach new experiences; excitement and joy or fear and worry?
What makes you feel expansive and how can you add on to this in your life?
If in a group, feel free to go around and share. No one needs to feel obligated to speak.
Additional but not required is using cards to expand on the intention setting for the season. These cards can be tarot, Goddess cards, animal medicine cards, or any other deck that you feel fits.
Finish with the circle with meditation.
My intention for this season is calmness and clarity as I move into these new experiences and reminding myself to stay optimistic as I move through these adventures. I would love to hear if you’ve held or attended a Sagittarius New Moon circle and your intentions for this season. Feel free to leave your answers in the comment section of this post 🙂
